veterans memorial building advisory committee

ABOUT VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDINGS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

On April 29, 1980, the County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors established the Sonoma County Veterans Memorial Buildings Advisory Committee (“Advisory Committee”).

The Committee consists of eight seats filled by veterans for each of the seven Veterans Memorial Buildings, and one seat is filled by a member of the United Veterans Council (UVC).

Adoption of these bylaws by the Veterans Advisory Committee was on August 4, 2015. The last time the bylaws were amended was on February 5, 2019.

The committee appointed is but the agent of the Board of Supervisors, and as to each of the seven buildings, and whatever is done by the committee is subject to the control, direction, and approval of the board of supervisors.

The use of the term “Veterans Representative” in this context and in relation to the Advisory Committee is a misnomer because these appointed veterans do not represent any veterans or veterans organizations. The sole purpose of the appointed veterans is to advise the Board of Supervisors on the condition of the Veterans Memorial Buildings.
